Quarantined “Whiskey Sour"
Prior to the lockdown here in New York City I had been to different bars around the city trying out my favorite drink, the Whiskey Sour. I missed it so much I decided to create my own.
A tradition Whiskey Sour has very few indigents making it a very simple, yet a classic cocktail in so many bars across the world. The simplicity of it is what I like about this drink. It’s sour but also sweet with just the perfect hint of caramel and dryness from the bourbon.
One night I was looking through the ingredients I had thinking of a way to possibly recreate my favorite drink. I had lemons, I had bourbon, which to me are the most important ingredients. A classic recipes requires simple syrup unfortunately I didn’t have any but I had Ginger ale, and lets be honest that’s pretty much the same thing. Instead of finishing the drink off with the traditional maraschino cherry I chose to add a few raspberries in its place. It’s not classic but its really close and its so refreshing it really helps get your mind into that summer mindset.
